This flat back Buddha, with still much of the gold leaf, was found at the top of a cave in Laos. The split that starts at the center of the head was a water drip that goes to the feet of the Buddha. It is believed that because this Buddha was flat backed, that the remainder of his journey was forward moving. Very rare to find the flat backed Buddha from this period.
